Spring is in the air

Here we are in the midst of the spring season -- a young and lush green covers the trees and flowers have pushed through the ground to bloom. Outside our windows there is so much growth and change. However, within our homes we feel stagnated with our lives. The global pandemic has forced us into opposition with the natural energetics of spring.

Here are some suggestions to tap into the energetics of spring and help move emotional stagnation.

  1. Focus on the things that you can control There are many aspects of life that are out of our control right now. However, use your creativity and vision to refocus on what you can control in your life. You can control what you put in your body, how much you get up to move and exercise, how you choose to interact with those around you.

  2. Flexibility is good for the mind and body Have you noticed how windy it has been this spring? Have you watched with awe as the trees gracefully sway from side to side when confronted with a strong wind? If they were too rigid their branches would snap and break. While it feels close to impossible to make plans for the future right now, the practice of thinking ahead can give you something to look forward to and work towards. However, you need to do this in a realistic manner by allowing room for unexpected outcomes to alter the plan.

  3. There are no wrong decisions It may feel very difficult right now to make even the simplest of decisions. With so much going on in the world our vision can be clouded. If you need to make an important decision, know that it is being made to the best of your ability and utilizing the resources available to you at this time. Second-guessing yourself after the fact can lead to self judgement and stagnation of qi in the body.
